Bedroom | Megan (15) is sitting at a desk about to write a letter. The only light is a small desk lamp. It is early morning. She is wearing shoes. A medium sized rucksack is leaning against her bed and a jumper/ hoodie inside a coat is on her bed. She picks up a pad from the floor and tears a page out. She takes a pen out of a mug with birds on it. It is chewed and the end is broken. As she begins to write the pen stops working. She scribbles it on the top of the paper and it starts working she turns the paper over and writes the letter. She finishes writing the letter and puts it in to an envelope. She picks up her bag and opens it. She walks over to her wardrobe and pulls all her clothes out and shoves them in her bag. She puts the envelope on the top of the bag and closes it. She grabs a coat and a jumper, which are on her bed puts them on and then swings the rucksack over her shoulder. She looks at a picture on her desk of her family and then places it back on the desk. She takes her keys out of her coat pocket and puts them on her desk. | Parents arguing downstairs, quiet. Soundtrack. Rainfall on window. Soundtrack fades. Parents arguing downstairs same volume. Rainfall on window still. Parents arguing downstairs. Rainfall on window.
Small Landing | She then walks out the room and closes the door behind her. | Parents arguing downstairs increase in volume. Rainfall on windows gets quieter.
Stair well | Her sister (5) is standing across the landing in pyjamas with her teddy bear. | Parents arguing louder. Rainfall continues. Sister says ‘Where are you going?’
Stairs | Megan begins to walk down the stairs. | Parents’ arguing gets much louder. Can hardly hear the rain.
Hall | Her sister runs across the landing towards her room and looks down the stairs at Megan leaving. Megan looks back up at her sister and then opens the front door and leaves. | Parents’ arguing still loud. Rain gets slightly louder.
Porch | She stands on the porch and looks out at the road and then starts to walk. | Parents arguing a murmur. Sounds of trees and wind and rain. A few car sounds as they go past and the distant sound of a police alarm. |
